About Us
The Stitching Lab: Empowering Girls, Stitch by Stitch
The Stitching Lab is the heartfelt creation of two sisters and their friend, united by a shared vision to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young Pakistani girls. Rooted in a deep sense of purpose, the initiative seeks to empower orphans, widows, and underprivileged women through skill-building, community, and opportunity.
Our journey began with a humble start: introducing seven sewing machines into a small training program—generously donated by GMZ, our parent foundation. With this modest beginning, we launched a pilot program to teach basic sewing skills to girls and women in need.
To measure their progress, we designed a set of 12 basic sewing skill tests. Those who passed all the tests on their first attempt were awarded a brand-new sewing machine—an empowering tool to help them become self-sufficient. Those who needed more practice were invited to join our daily classes, where they could continue learning and eventually earn a sewing machine of their own—often the same one they had trained on.
To date, GMZ has donated nearly 35 out of 100 machines we aim to distribute, making a direct impact on dozens of families.
Why We Do What We Do
Our mission is rooted in women’s empowerment. We believe that every woman—be she a daughter, mother, sister, or wife—deserves not only financial independence but also a safe, supportive space where she can express herself, grow, and connect with like-minded individuals. The Stitching Lab isn’t just about sewing; it’s about stitching together strength, resilience, and community.

Our newest and most ambitious program—introducing participants to technology and digital skills. From fabric dyeing and 3D printing to graphic and web design, we are building a future where creativity meets innovation.
